Dress Rehearsal

Dress rehearsal was a major disaster. It wasn't so much the performance as all the technical aspects that seemed to be going wrong. As I said, this was the first chance that I had to run the slide show, the lights, and the sound all together. In the end, we were unable to get through a complete run through without stopping at one point or another. The slide show was what was giving me the most trouble because my computer was not configuring with the projector. At what point I even felt like giving up on the entire slide show and just scrapping the idea for the sake of the performance. The second problem I encountered was the smoke machine that I hoped would create the effect of moving across water. Low and behold, I learned today that a smoke machine is much different from a fog machine, which was what I required. The smoke machine made an inordinate amount of noise and quickly faded whereas I needed fog that would hover about the ground for an extended period of time. So as to not draw attention away from the performance, I decided to completely cancel the smoke machine. It was not worth it. The lights, however, did run smoothly. Thankfully, they were already programmed into the board. Only time will tell. Tomorrow's judgment day.
